A number of successful regional and national leagues have operated in Ireland over the years. Some of the latest are listed here:
Irish Backgammon League
The Irish Backgammon League is run from the Belfast Backgammon Club. The league differs from most other competitions in that it awards points for Performance Rating as well as match wins. The format of the league is divisional, with players separated into tables of roughly ten. Each season lasts three months, beginning on the first day of September, December, March and June.
